AWA's 50th Anniversary

AWA's 50th Anniversary
Members, local politicians, business owners and community organisations got together with staff and Directors from AWA Alliance Bank at GMHBA stadium on 18 October 2019 to celebrate AWA's 50th Anniversary.
AWA has a very active community ethos and supports many community and not-for-profit organisations in the G21 region. Much of this support is channelled through the Give Where You Live Foundation represented on the night by CEO Bill Mithen who gave an eye opening overview of future challenges in the Geelong region. Other special guests included Elaine Carbines (AWA Director, Barwon Water Deputy Chair, G21 CEO), Christine Couzens MP (State Member for Geelong), Pat Murnane (Councillor representing the Kardinia Ward within the City of Greater Geelong), John Osborne (Alcoa’s Director for Asset & Planning Management) and others.

AWA CEO, Graeme Scannell spoke of the 50 year milestone, “Although we have taken some time to reflect on what has been achieved over the first 50 years it is what we have in front of us that makes me excited. By evolving into the organisation that we have - being part of the Alliance Bank group - we have the flexibility to achieve so much more and to make such a significant difference moving forward.”
AWA Alliance Bank is responsible to several community infrastructure projects in the Geelong region.
