AWA and Give Where You Live form an exciting new partnership
Give Where You Live (GWYL) is a Geelong philanthropic organisation that brings together individual community donors, corporate supporters and service delivery partners to create long term sustainable change for those suffering the effects of disadvantage within the Geelong community. AWA has had a relationship with GWYL over a number of years courtesy of our long standing links with Alcoa.
Like all Alliance Banks, AWA knows that community connections matter and is very conscious of the role it plays in being socially responsible within its communities. Strong ties with family, friends and the community provide people with happiness, security, support and a sense of purpose and it is this connectedness that builds resilience in people.

‘This is why we partnered with GWYL. Our values and goals are strongly aligned and they offer a depth of experience and expertise evidenced through the Community Connections Grant program.
'We both recognise the importance of social inclusion and the effect that poor health, limited income and inadequate education has on people in our region. Our contribution of $47,000 will go towards supporting initiatives closely aligned to this issue,’ says Graeme Scannell, CEO AWA Mutual Limited.
Instrumental in setting up the partnership was Bill Mithen (GWYL) and his team. AWA Alliance Bank would like to congratulate the following organisations for being successful with the latest round of Community Connection Grants:
Back to Back Theatre, Barwon Disability Resource Council, Community Hub, Delta Society, Geelong Mums, Lazarus Community Centre, OneCare Geelong, Riding for the Disabled- Barwon Centre, and Solve Disability Solutions
