Supporting Community Partners

13 May 2019 |Community

BDCU’s Community Partner Program has presented cheques totalling $30,375 to more than 40 Community Partners in the NSW Southern Highlands and Tablelands to support a range of community organisations such as Mittagong Parents & Citizens Committee, and Friends of Wingecarribee Animal Shelter. This was the result of about 1,400 locals choosing to support the program.

The Program includes a My Community Savings account that allows members to nominate and support Community Partners from a list of registered local charities, community groups, schools and other local organisations. For every $1 of interest earned by the member BDCU donates 15cents from its own capital to the member's nominated charity.

Each one of the Community Partners is featured in BDCU Centres each quarter on a rotating basis. They are also invited to participate in a monthly art auction held at a local gallery. Sales proceeds are distributed proportionately to the Community Partner.

Community Partner payments are made every six months and have increased by 78% over the last six months reflecting the growth in members choosing to support their local community through savings.
