Bowral has a New Home for Rugby
NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian was there to mark the official opening.
Bowral Rugby Union is one of BDCU’s many community partners.
The new facilities are the result of a massive effort by a team of loyal rugby fans who have volunteered their time to bring the dream of a community sporting and social hub to life.

Under President Mark Freund’s guidance, the Club focuses on community building. Mark did the work to secure the grant from the State Government to renovate the Club House. He has also raised more than $290K over the past eight years to support local charities.
‘This is great for our local community. Seeing everyone enjoying themselves, it’s very social. We’ve got two hundred local kids running around, coming up through the ranks taking us all the way to the finals. It’s really satisfying,’ says Mark.
In 2018 Alliance Bank acknowledged Mark’s commitment to the community. He won the Do Good Community Award, an annual awards program that celebrates community contribution.
Local trades built the new facilities. This provided a boost to the local economy following a season of bushfires and now, the current health crisis.
The new facilities are a shining example of a community working together to improve the quality of life for all locals.
