Saving Lives
During summer the Foundation set-up a Spot Check program at the beach. What they discovered is eye-opening. During the 7-day program they:
- Provided 723 beach goers and the Hunter Surf Life Saving community with free skin checks
- Of those 723 patients, 175 were referred for further examination
- Of the 175 suspicious spots, 36 suspected melanomas were detected (1 in 20 people had a suspected melanoma)
- From the 31 suspected melanomas 8 were confirmed melanomas in 7 patients (1 person per day)
Hear from some of the people who discovered they had melanoma on the day.

This demonstrates just how many Aussies are at risk. Without the financial support of organisations like NOVA Alliance Bank, life-saving programs like this are unable to go ahead.
